Lamborghini Launches Its Own Pickleball Paddle

[ad_1]

We love the world of brand licensing because it gives us marriages like this. Meet the BL002, a high-performance pickleball paddle developed and produced via a partnership between Lamborghini and Babolat.

What on earth could a company such as Lamborghini have to contribute to pickleball paddles? A lot, apparently. The BL002 is actually the second time these two companies have worked together on a paddle. The first happened in 2024 and resulted in the BL001, a low-volume collectors’ paddle that was actually built by Lamborghini at its headquarters near Bologna, Italy. Apparently it was a great success as the two companies are back for a second round with the BL002, which differs from its predecessors in a few key ways.

A Paddle With Purpose

As you can see, the BL002 looks as if it were yanked off the fender of one of Lamborghini’s supercars. From the geometric design details to the exposed carbon fiber to the blinding color scheme, it screams Lamborghini. But don’t worry, this paddle isn’t just for show.

According to Lamborghini, the BL002 features 3K carbon and Koridion foam in its construction, two materials which sound as if they’re used insulate the Millenium Falcon from the cold vacuum of space. Since we’re well aware of Lamborghini’s proud history of material innovation, though, we’ll give the company the benefit of the doubt and accept they’re great stuff that help the BL002 hit harder than your garden variety pickleball paddle.

The companies claim the BL002 is “a high-performance, comfortable, and easy-to-handle racquet, pleasant to play with and accessible to all.” It weighs 360 grams or 12.7 ounces and will be available in two colors: black or what Lamborghini calls green but looks an awful lot like yellow to us. This time around, production is limited to 5,000 units and will take place at Babolat’s new Babolat Padel Studio near Barcelona, Spain instead of Lamborghini’s HQ in Italy.

What Is Babolat?

You’d be forgiven for never having heard this company’s name before, because we hadn’t either. Apparently, however, it’s a big deal in racquet and paddle sports. Babolat actually invented tennis strings in 1875 and is the oldest company specializing in tennis.

Of course, no company survives 150 years without diversifying, so Babolat expanded into other sports such as badminton and, more recently, pickleball, which is just called padel or padel tennis in Europe. In fact, Babolat claims its home country of Spain is the “cradle of padel.”

With the hyper-popularity of pickleball around the world and Lamborghini’s love of licensing out its brand (surpassed only, perhaps, by Ferrari, which has its own theme park), we expect the BL002 paddle will not be the last product born of this partnership. For now, however, it is the Revuelto of pickleball paddles, and you’re not the coolest boomer on the court unless you’ve got one.
